Apple cider vinegar is famous for helping to restore your scalp’s natural pH balance, which can get thrown off by shampoos and other hair products. Its acetic acid helps get rid of product buildup, fight dandruff, and give a healthy shine to dull hair. ACV also has lots of vitamins and minerals that nourish your hair, making it stronger and more resilient. Plus, its natural properties can help with an itchy or flaky scalp.
My Overnight ACV Hair Treatment
Before starting, I made sure I had everything I needed: raw, unfiltered ACV, a spray bottle, a shower cap, and an old towel to keep my pillow clean. To make sure it wasn’t too strong, I mixed the vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio. I also did a quick patch test on a small part of my scalp to make sure I wouldn’t have any bad reactions.
The Next Morning: What I Found
When I woke up, I could smell a light vinegar scent. My hair felt a little damp but not soaking wet. When I took off the shower cap, I was surprised that my hair wasn’t sticky or greasy. The vinegar had dried without leaving any weird film behind. I rinsed my hair with lukewarm water and then used a gentle shampoo to get rid of any remaining smell.
